Chris Ferguson is one of the most recognizable poker players in the world and he has an appearance that many people don’t forget. His nickname on the poker circuit is “Jesus” and he got his nickname solely because he looks a lot like Jesus when he doesn’t have his cowboy hat on his head covering his long hair. With his long hair, dark sunglasses and rock approach when he’s playing poker you would tend to assume that he would be a difficult player to approach, but it turns out Chris is one of the nicest poker players on the tour.

Chris was born in 1963 in Los Angeles and started playing poker at a much younger age then most people. Ferguson was playing poker with classmates since grade four and once he was in highschool he started playing for cash. Through college Chris would head to Las Vegas on the weekends and would win basically every weekend increasing his bankroll tremendously. Unlike most poker players though, Chris stayed in college and never dropped out, and ended up graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science.

Chris Ferguson has always been great with computers and in 2004 he helped with the building of the Full Tilt Poker.com software. He has remained apart of the Full Tilt team since then and you can watch him playing other poker professionals on the Full Tilt team online in the Full Tilt poker room. He had an integral part in the success of Full Tilt and it’s now one of the biggest poker rooms out there.

Throughout Ferguson’s career he has won 5 WSOP bracelets with his first bracelet in 2000. He also has more then 20+ final table appearances and 40+ money finishes which is more then most other poker players. Chris has won over $3 million in poker tournaments alone and that doesn’t count the money he has made from playing cash games and online at Full Tilt Poker. Chris is also a very well rounded poker player and only one of his bracelets has come from No Limit Holdem. Chris has also won WSOP bracelets in Omaha Hi/Lo, Seven Card Stud and Half Stud-Half Holdem. Most poker players specialize in one form of poker, but Chris has managed to become a player to look out for in basically all forms of poker. Chris has also proven to be one of the most feared heads-up poker players with impressive finishes in heads-up challenges over the years.

Chris now lives in Pacific Palisades, California and doesn’t compete as much as he use to on the poker circuit. Chris tends to play only the highest level tournaments on the tour and spends his free time doing other hobbies that he has. Chris likes to swing dance and day trade so he does have a lot of hobbies to keep him busy apart from poker.

There is no doubt that with his appearance he’s one of the most recognized onlie poker site players in the world, but what most people don’t know is how well rounded of a player he is. I can’t wait to see how Chris fares throughout the rest of his career and I’m sure it will include at least one more WSOP bracelet.
